Emil Mason Marketing
Paid Search Manager
Merkle
I have been working at Merkle since March 2017. When I first joined my main focus was on Paid Search account management. Over the last five years I have worked as part of the team managing accounts for Tesco and Canon. I am now leading the Paid Search Marketing team for Specialized, focusing on driving business growth across Europe.
I also have a role as a manager responsible for the wellbeing and professional development of three junior colleaues. I also spend much of my time running training sessions to upskill new joiners to our company.
Teaching English
In Thailand
In 2016, before joining Merkle, I lived in Bangkok for three months, working as an English Teaching Assistant (ETA). I ran lessons teaching children from ages four to seventeen. I feel this really helped me to develop my ability to adjust my communication and presentation style for different audiences.
Overall, I feel living in Thailand for thee months massively improved my understanding of different cultures.
Volunteering
With Forest School Camps (FSC)
I have been volunteering for FSC since 2012. This involves caring for groups of children, while camping for two weeks. We provide 24/7 childcare, teach woodcraft skills and run games.
FSC as a charity cares deeply about equity, sustainability and community. These values resonate very deeply with me.
Since 2022 I have taken on an FSC role with more responsibility, becoming a Group Chief, organising and supporting volunteer teams.
Learning About India
Traveling & Working
I am passionate about travelling and learning about different cultures. In December 2019 I solo backpacked across India. I found this a deeply impactful experience. I feel a deep awe for the depth of Indian culture and history. The vibrancy and dynamism of modern India also makes it a fascinating place to visit.
In 2022 I got the opportunity to explore my love of India further with my work. I started working with the team responsible with integrating our teammates based in India with those based in the UK.
COVID19 has delayed my return to India but I am planning on visiting again in 2024.
